BLANCPAIN BASEL NEWS 4: The white 50 Fathoms (now 'in the metal' pics)!
Dear All:
again, also this one came not entirely as a surprise and ahs been announced as 'Pre-Basel' already:
The Blancpain 50 Fathoms White

Unmistakingly a member of the 50 Fathoms collection, the new Ref. 5015-1127-52 brings a totally different character to this collection:

While (nearly) identical to the original 50 Fathoms, this watch still has a unique, a very light personality. Its erstwhile intention as a serious divers watch has been - dare I say? - 'watered' down. Legibility in deep sea areas is compromised, certainly, but the watch balances this with a view on the Cal. 1315, in this case visible through a glass back:

As expected from its pedigree, the watch owes much of its appeal to the flawless design of the 50 Fathoms line:

The watch is of course driven by the Cal. 1315, which stands out in the Blancpain movement collection thanks to its restrained decoration, which nevertheless is painstakingly applied in hand work. Please note also the free-sprung balance with the golden timing screws. They allow to adjust the balance without removing it from the movement:

The rotor will pay, once in serial production, due homage to the diving profession the watch is geared to: with a Nautilus design, masterfully applied:

Please note: The watches presented here are still prototypes. Details might change until serial production. In this case the rotor certainly is not the one mounted in the production model.
Cheers,
Magnus
