Tired of heard talking about "value or resale value" !
Aren't we taking about our passion ?
I had never choose a watch because of its resale value, but only because I just love it ! It's not my moral to buy a watch with the idea of resale it.
It's absolutly true that some brands like Rolex, Patek or Audemars focus on marketing, that's works well, those brands are very popular and finally, when you look on websites, the second hand market is full of them !
I live on a very touristic island and work in a high class hotel. For sure, I saw every day guests with Rolex, PP or AP. With years, I know some of them very well, and when I talk with them about watches, they are often non-conoisseurs and have choose their watches only by the reputation of the brand and because it's great to have one. When I saw guests with a Blancpain, a Breguet or a Lange, it's not the same...
I work hard and a lot for living my passion and be proud of my watches. I don't really want to see anybody with the same piece...
In my opinion, Blancpain doesn't need to push marketing on a particular piece or collection, just continue to produce great watches and follow the famous "Morale de Blancpain". Watches aficionados are probably the best customers for the brand reputation.
The real question, for me, is : does the brand really need to make more money, or it can stay like a shop-window for the Swatch-Group ?
