Blancpain Collectors gathered for a special treat at the Blancpain Basel Booth!

Dear All:

The Saturday evening is now a fixed date for Blancpain collectors during their pilgrimage to the annual Basel watch and jewelry fair. Gathering during a cocktail reception at the « Bistro Blancpain », the warm and elegant cradle of intimacy in a very hectic and busy fair, the crowd eagerly awaited to be treated with epicurean delicacies and - naturally - an exclusive presentation and hands-on experience on the ever evolving Blancpain collection.

This year the aficionados were called in for a real treat: welcomed by Jeffrey Kingston and Magnus Bosse, the 35 collectors found themselves participating in a spirited horological discourse of the highest level between Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek, the movement design engineer Vincent Beccia and the world-famous watchmaker Vincent Calabrese.

It was a true technological breakthrough by Blancpain which warranted this extraordinary set up: Blancpain proudly presented the world first Carrousel wristwatch, the 'Carrousel Volant Une Minute'.

This watch builds and expands magnificently on the original mechanism developed by the Danish watchmaker Bahne Bonniksen in 1893 and sports a flying Carrousel cage rotating once a minute. The movement is driven by an automatically wound geartrain with 100h power reserve. No one less than Mr. Calabrese himself has designed this complicated mechanism, and thus delivered his second landmark piece for Blancpain (the first being the flying Tourbillon). And if this was not enough, CEO Marc A. Hayek announced with eyes sparkling with joy that Vincent Calabrese now permanently joins the Blancpain watchmaking team.

The two 'Vincents', Vincent Beccia and Vincent Calabrese, assisted by Jeff Kingston, offered a wealth of insights and detailed facts which gave rise to this world's first Carrousel in a wristwatch, and they were pestered with questions by the inquisitive crowd of collectors. Truly an evening to remember!

Next, time, big promise, we'll do it again!

Best,
Magnus
