BASEL LIFE PICS 7: The new L-Evolution GMT Alarm!
Note: Please open the pics in another window or tab to see them in full size!)
Dear All:
Its due time to finish the life pictorials of this year's Basel novelties. The last instalment of this series is reserved to the -arguably- most beautiful reference of the new L-Evolution collection, the Blancpain L-Evolution GMT Alarm Ref. 8841-1134-53B:

Technically, there is nothing new, really. But this is not necessary in this particular case, since the watch is powered by the excellent, well-known and versatile alarm movement Cal. 1241H. It offers what I would call the horological equivalent to a 'concierge service for travellers' with an automatic movement featuring a second time zone (home time) and an alarm with indication of its power reserve:

This movement has been originally developed in cooperation with Breguet and, for the watchmaking connoisseurs, sports a freesprung balance with a Breguet hairspring. The alarm on/off switch has a very tactile feel thanks to a column operation system.
The hallmark multi-layer design of the L-Evolution dials has, IMHO, found its perfection with this watch. It is simply vivid and interesting without any disturbing trace of business:

Like with the tourbillon, it is content with simple geometric elements, and particularly also displays similar two circles resembling the 'lucky' numeral '8':

Take a close look how masterfully the on/off indication of the alarm is linked to the alarm time dial:

The dial of course shows some neat finishing marvels which I would like to highlight:

The complicated case does not differ from the other watches of the L-Evolution collection. Anyway, some additional pics:

At the end, the obligatory wrist shot:

I hope you enjoyed this post!
Best,
Magnus
